At long last, it has arrived.
After months of waiting, the 2021 Mississippi State baseball schedule has been unveiled.
The Diamond Dawgs will throw their first pitch on February 19 in Arlington, Texas, participating in a three-day tournament on the home field of the Texas Rangers. Details of the tournament are to be announced.
State’s first action on Dudy Noble Field will be February 23 and 24 with two midweek games against Jackson State. MSU’s first home weekend series will be against Tulane, February 26-28.
State travels to Pearl, facing Southern Miss in a midweek on March 2 before returning home to wrap up non-conference play with a weekend series versus Tennessee Tech, midweek contests against Grambling and UL Lafayette, a series with Eastern Michigan, and a midweek against Samford.
MSU’s SEC opponents are the same as 2020 with home series against Arkansas (March 26-28), Kentucky (April 1-3), Ole Miss (April 16-18), Texas A&M (April 30-May 2), and Missouri (May 14-16), along with road series with LSU (March 19-21), Auburn (April 9-11), Vanderbilt (April 23-25), South Carolina (May 7-9), and Alabama (May 20-22).
State has a plethora of non-conference midweeks during conference play, including UT Martin, Mississippi Valley State, Arkansas State, UAB, and Jacksonville State.
One notable change to the schedule is that the annual Governor’s Cup game between Mississippi State and Ole Miss will not be played this season.
