"We are very excited about getting Jacob," said Collier. "He'll add a lot to our line-up and is a good catcher that could also play some at third base and in the outfield. We are just excited about having a player like him on the roster for next season."
At the plate, Shempert batted .604 while drawing 46 walks with 38 being intentional walks. He had 29 hits with nine doubles, three home runs to drive in 20 runs and scored 35 more while stealing 31 bases.
On the mound, he had an 11-3 record and 1.91 ERA with 110 strikeouts and 12 walks in 80 innings to help lead Oak Hill to the second round of the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) Class AA North State playoffs.
Shempert was named conference MVP while earning first-team All-MAIS honors as a utility player along with being selected to the MAIS All-Star team, second-team All-State by the Clarion-Ledger and The Commercial Dispatch's All-Area Player of the Year.
"It feels good," Shempert said about signing with ICC. "I feel like I will be able to help the team and will make a lot of new friends to have some good team unity and hopefully make a deeper run in the playoffs next year."
Collier also announced Ethan Waldrip (North Delta Academy), Bailey Guckert (North Delta Academy), CJ Hodges (Winona Christian), Cameron Coker (Germantown, TN) and Trey Smith (Fredericksburg, VA) all recently signed to play baseball for the North Division Champions next season.
