Winston ready for senior season

Defensive end JaMichael Winston is already counting down the days. After all, the month of August is right around the corner and that means Winston and his Vigor (Ala.) High School teammates will be practicing for the 2011 campaign.
"I haven't been to any camps or visits lately," said the 6-foot-5 and 225-pound defensive end. "I've just been working on getting stronger in the weight room and staying in shape. We start practice the first week of August so all eyes are on getting ready for that."

Winston owns over a dozen scholarship offers, including the likes of Mississippi State, Arkansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, Syracuse and South Florida. This summer he has taken in camps/visits at Mississippi State, Alabama, Auburn and South Alabama.
And more visits could be in his near future.
"I kinda want to take more visits and see some more schools," said Winston. "I want to get more in-depth with recruiting. I will probably go see South Florida, Michigan State, Arkansas and Louisville in the fall and maybe a few other schools, too."
Winston said he originally planned to make his collegiate decision in the fall. But now he said that may not be the case.
"I planned on deciding this summer," said Winston. "But if it carries over to my senior season then that is fine, too. I just want to make sure when I make my decision that it is the right decision. I don't have any favorites right now and I would say everyone that has offered me is staying in touch with me the same. Plus, Alabama and Auburn haven't offered but they are staying in touch with me."
During the month of June, Winston made his way to Mississippi State for a camp session. He said the Bulldogs are still one of the main schools he is seriously considering and likes his relationship with the Bulldog coaches.
"Things are still well with Mississippi State and I just talked with coach Les Koenning today," noted Winston. "The coaches just tell me that whenever I am ready to be a Bulldog to let them know. They tell me I am high on their board. They are definitely one of the schools I am considering along with Kentucky, Arkansas, South Florida and Troy."
