Travis looking to lead Gulfport

Travon Travis is going to be a very important spoke in the wheel at Gulfport (Miss.) High School this year. The Admirals are about to start preparing for their first game against Picayune and will rely on their seniors to lead the way. Travis will be one of those seniors and is ready to show the Class 6A football world what he is made of.
The summer months provide high school players the chance to attend several camps in order to improve their chances of receiving offers. Travis holds an offer from Ole Miss but he attended two other camps he would like to receive offers from as well.

"I have an offer from Ole Miss," Travis said. "I like them but I wanted to show other teams what I can do. I went to a camp at Louisiana-Lafayette and to the Big Dawg Camp at Mississippi State."
Several of the South's best players attended the Big Dawg camp. Travis felt like he was right at home with those players.
"I ran a 4.37 forty at MSU," Travis said. "I didnt really feel the competition at DB was all that good, I was able to beat most of them. But I learned a lot from the coaches and think I did really good. Coach (Les) Koenning told me to stay in touch with him and that he was really impressed."
Although he is happy with his camp performances, Travon says he is not in any hurry to make a decision.
"I am gonna let the season play out and then go from there," Travis said. "I will probably take some visits and see what's what at some schools and then make a decision."
