Swedenburg makes it official

After growing up cheering for Mississippi State it seemed only natural that Columbus (Miss.) Heritage Academy punter Baker Swedenburg would join the team if given the opportunity. When offered that chance last week it only took him a few days to ponder things and today he let the coaching staff know he'd be a Bulldog.
"I just got back from Starkville today and I committed," he said. "I went to a Christian youth retreat this weekend to make sure I was making the right decision with God and everything and I basically just wanted to make sure that God wanted me to be there."

After feeling confident he had made the right decision, he let it be known and now he gets the chance to do what most players growing up never get the chance to ever do; play for his childhood favorite team.
"It feels great," he said. "Like I said, I have grown up watching State every football game. It feels good and to think I am going to be a Bulldog and to be out there on the field helping the team to win."
Baker makes State's 14th confirmed pledge.
