Samuels camping at State

Fairhope (Ala.) 2012 offensive line prospect Kyron Samuels attended one of Mississippi State's camps in June, one of several SEC stops for Samuels this summer.
Having also camped at Auburn and Alabama, Samuels is hoping for some good news and a good performance Friday at the Big Dawg Camp.

"I am heading back to Starkville on Friday," said Samuels. "And I am hoping things go well. Coach (John) Hevesy and Coach (Les) Koenning told me they would let me know right after camp if I get an offer. So it will be a big day, for sure."
Samuels is also anxious to hear back from a few other SEC programs, he said, in the near future.
"Alabama head coach Nick Saban said he would get back with me after all of their camps finish," said the 6-foot-2 and 290-pound Samuels. "He said they would make a decision soon. Then Ole Miss, LSU and Kentucky are also showing interest so things are going pretty good.
"Arkansas is also showing me interest. They said if I didn't camp there, they would still watch me early in fall practice. Coach (Bobby) Petrino said he really likes me so that is good to hear. And once I see what Mississippi State and Alabama do, I hope to make a decision before the season starts."
Samuels owns offers from Southern Miss, East Carolina, Maryland, Troy, Memphis and Louisiana-Lafayette among others along with his interest from the SEC programs. He noted a trio of schools are staying in the most contact with him of late.
"I would say Mississippi State, Louisville and South Alabama are keeping up with the most," said Samuels. "South Alabama is not Division I yet and they are just in their third year of their program. But they are getting some good commitments and they have kinda climbed up my list being so close to home and all."
Previously in his prep career at Fairhope High School, Samuels started at guard on the offensive line. But for his senior year, he is making the transition to center and believes that will be his spot at the next level, as well.
"Most people think I am too short at 6-2 to be a guard and I don't blame them for thinking like that," said Samuels. "So playing center, I think I will be fine there because that is what everyone is offering me to be in college."
