Robinson looks for more opportunity

Running back R.J. Robinson admitted his first season at the junior college level was an adjustment. Following a solid prep career, the South Carolina native made his way to Georgia Military College and faced a challenge on the depth chart.
But with each passing week, the 6-foot-2 and 220-pound Robinson began to display his talent and earned more reps on game day.

"It was a little rough at first last year," said Robinson, who noted his last forty time was 4.4 in high school. "I had two other good running backs ahead of me. When I got my chance, though, I did well and the then I got more playing time. The coaches started to trust me more to carry the ball and I held on to the ball better.
"I finished with about 600 yards, including receiving yards, and had eight touchdowns. So it was an adjustment at first but I kept working hard to get my chance to prove myself."
And Robinson continued that process this spring.
"We just finished up with our spring game," said Robinson. "I rushed for about 100 yards and had a touchdown. I didn't play a whole lot either because everyone needed to play to show what they could do. Last year I had trouble with my pad level in the holes. But I've gotten faster and stronger now and I have more size on me. All of those improvements helped with my overall running game."
And last week, Robinson picked up his first scholarship offer and it came from SEC country.
"Mississippi State came by to see me last week," said Robinson. "And then they offered me the day after they saw me. Coach John Hevesy said they wanted another running back in their program and I was very happy to get my first offer. I know they like to run the ball and they have one of the best running games in the SEC. I haven't visited them yet but I plan to do that in a little bit. I just got their offer and I am still finding out more information about their program."
Along with Mississippi State, Robinson noted other programs paid him a visit this spring and have displayed interest.
"Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana Tech are also interested in me," said Robinson, who is expected to graduate in December. "All of those schools came by our spring practices but I didn't really see any of them in our spring game.
"I don't have any favorites right now and I am just waiting to see what all happens. I want to visit Mississippi State this summer and probably go see Auburn, too, and see where that takes me."
