Ready to perform

The 2010 season is one that receiver Cameron Broadnax just soon forget. The talented wideout had just transferred to Hueytown (Ala.) High School but had to sit out his junior season due to transfer rules.

But all of that is ancient history in his mind now, and it's time to prove himself all over again.

"I don't have any offers yet and I have to go to camps this summer since I didn't play last year," said Broadnax. "It's been good, too, and all of the negative vibes are gone. I am just trying to show people what I can do. I was at Homewood (Ala.) but I transferred to Hueytown so I had to sit out a year. So it was tough but all of that is in the past now."

Broadnax was one of Monday's top standouts at the Mississippi State camp and it was easy to see that it won't take long for him to be a household name on the recruiting scene. He displayed his leaping ability and consistent hands as well as running smooth routes.

"It was good and I loved it," said the 6-foot-2 and 180 pound Broadnax of MSU's camp. "I liked the campus and it was nice and everything was nice. It was fun being with the coaches and I got to be with them a little more after camp ended."

And Broadnax added that he picked up a few things that will aid his game when the fall rolls around.

"I ran a 4.5 a couple of times and that was a good thing," said Broadnax. "I also picked up some good tips on my routes from their receivers' coach (Angelo Mirando). I worked a lot on my slants and short routes and cutting on my slants. Those were things I can carry over to the fall and keep working on."

"I am looking at Mississippi State, Alabama, Auburn and some others," said Broadnax. "Mississippi State and Alabama are showing me the most interest and LSU is also showing me interest. Ohio State was showing me some interest but they have fallen off here lately.

"So this summer is pretty important for me. I just want to do as well as I can at camp and show people I can compete well."
