Norwood Impresses at Track Meet

“I just got out of track and I won the 110 hurdle (14.5) and the 4 x 100 relay (2nd leg). I also won the long jump,” commented Rivals 100 standout running back prospect Jerious Norwood from Brandon High. He also ran the 300m hurdles, where he placed second, and the 4 X 200 relay.
Not bad for someone participating in their first year of track events. “This was my first year running them,” he said. “I just thought it would help me going into football and help me get my legs stronger."

As a junior Norwood impressed college recruiters by rushing the ball 241 times for 2291 yards and 31 touchdowns. He also caught 18 passes for 226 yards and four touchdowns and even completed 2 passes for 61 yards and a score.
He also excelled on special teams returning 20 kickoffs for 531 yards and two touchdowns and had 8 punts for 177 yards and a touchdown.
“I have had calls from Ole Miss, Auburn, Southern (Miss), Mississippi State, South Carolina, and West Virginia,” commented Jerious on the early evaluation process. “There have been so many of them I can’t remember their names. Most of them have been coming up to the school to get my transcript.”
“They are all about the same,” Norwood said of the coaches he has heard from. “Coach Cutcliffe and Coach Sherrill have called, and Coach Dunn from Auburn has been coming heavy.”
Although Norwood is reluctant to name a list of favorite schools, a few have stood out to him in the early recruiting process. “I like Ole Miss, (Mississippi) State, Florida, and Florida State,” he said. “I like Auburn. I think I am going to just go check them out.”
Jerious hasn’t set up any camps but plans to in the next couple of weeks. “I talked to my coach today about going to a couple of camps,” he said. “We talked about going up to Ole Miss, and Mississippi State and Florida.”
Norwood says he is no hurry to make a decision, and wants to take his time to make sure he makes the right choice. “Once I go on all of my visits, if I like it that is where I am going to be,” he commented.
