Mondays Biscuits

Hope you had a good weekend and hope everyone stays safe with bad weather moving in later today in Mississippi and other Southeast areas:
First Biscuit: Continuing with my interview with Coach John Hevesy and the offensive line, today we finish up the Oline with the offensive tackles. Right now, Coach Hevesy said it was a close battle between James Carmon and Blaine Clausell and it is a matter of both just learning the sets and reacting without having to think so much. He expects that battle to continue all the way through fall training camp. Naturally, Addison Lawrence has secured a spot at right tackle and Archie Muniz is working behind him. As noted last week, Hevesy believes Damien Robinson will eventually move to tackle in the future once he gains confidence.

Second Biscuit: Over the weekend I spoke with Tylertown (Miss.) jr. Oliver Bates (6-3, 270), who was at one of MSU's practices late last week. He plays left tackle and defensive tackle and said he has unofficially MSU and USM now. He said he was getting interest from MSU, OM, USM, Kentucky and some from LSU. He said the MSU coaches want him back at camp to get a better look at his talents and he said his trip to MSU last week was a "wonderful experience."
Third Biscuit: Over the weekend I spoke with Fairhope, Ala., jr. two-sport star Chase Domino Jr., who has been to one of MSU's jr days. He is being recruited by MSU, USM and Alabama in football and by MSU, Alabama and South Alabama in baseball. He said he's been receiving a few letters from MSU baseball. He had a minor arm injury and has not pitched this year...only played centerfield. He said after a slow start that he is now hitting .393 with 7 home runs. As a team, Fairhope is 19-1.
Fourth Biscuit: Over the weekend I also spoke to East Miss. CC rising sophomore defensive end Denico Autry. He has numerous SEC offers and other BCS offers. He made an unofficial trip to MSU on Friday but arrived too late to watch them practice. Autry also visited OM unofficially this past weekend and noted after this weekend that MSU is even higher on his list. He said he knows MSU offensive linemen Tobias Smith and Quentin Saulsberry and said that helps him feel very comfortable with MSU.
Fifth Biscuit: Yesterday former Clemson transfer Brandon Maye and I texted back and forth some. As you know he is transferring to MSU and will be in Starkville this summer. He said he was coming to MSU for Super Bulldog Weekend so he can keep getting a better feel for the MSU defense. And in talking to other MSU linebackers, they are already building a bond with Maye and are anxious for him to help the defense and quickly fit into the team chemistry.
And for the gravy on top: I spoke a bit with MSU junior guard Tobias Smith over the weekend. He said he is starting to do some individual Oline work but is still not going to go through any drills this spring due to offseason shoulder surgery. He said he should be cleared at 100 percent in July and would be good to go when two-a-days roll around, which is good news for a Oline hurting with injuries right now.
