The first of July's three evaluation periods proved to be fruitful to Misssissippi State as five-star Reggie Perry picked the Bulldogs.

It was barely even two weeks ago that Perry announced he would decommit from Arkansas where he had committed at the end of the summer of 2016. However, after visiting campus a few times he felt ready to make his choice.

"Getting it done and out of the way really relieves a lot of pressure," Perry told Rivals.com. "Mississippi State is a great place for me to be and it felt pretty good.

"The coaching staff and the players that will be around me when I get there, I felt like Mississippi State could get me to where I want to be."

The versatile four man's reasoning was that he wanted somewhere closer to home and for unnamed health concerns with his father.

Early speculation was that Florida State -- where he took a recent official visit -- would get him but at the Adidas Gauntlet last weekend it became apparent that Ben Howland and his squad were a serious player as they followed Perry everywhere he went with his summer team the Arkansas Hawks.

Perry reminds us some of former Kentucky star and current Los Angeles Laker Julius Randle because he's a physical, off the dribble attacking and high volume rebounding four man. He is Mississippi State's first commitment from the class of 2018.

"I feel like when i get there I will be able to do multiple things," said Perry. "I will bring a winning attitude to them and help to make an immediate impact."
