Early commitments flowed freely for the Bulldogs during the spring, but things had slowed down once the camp season began. They picked back up yesterday, however, when Magnolia Heights big man Addison Lawrence cast his lot with State. What made him make the move?
"I have just been talking to the coaches and I really like them," he said. "I talked to coach Haley and he wanted me to commit, so l sat down and talked to my family and just decided to go ahead and do it."
As a 6-foot-4, 253-pound athlete, Lawrence is capable of playing several positions. Where will he play for State?
"Coach Haley said my position is up to me," Lawrence said. "It depends on how much I grow, how much weight I gain...a lot of things." Positions being mentioned include tackle and tight end.
