Jesse Jackson Becomes a Bulldog

Since this time last year, Mississippi State fans started to really hear the name Jesse Jackson emerge. The talented 3* Petal receiver showed up to campus at junior day decked out in Maroon and White and Bulldog fans felt like it was just a matter of time before he became one of their own. Minutes ago, Jackson made that decision final with a pledge to the Bulldogs for the 2014 season.

"It just feels right," Jackson said of his decision to become a Bulldog. "I always feel at home when I go to Starkville and the coaches make me feel like I'm one of them. I've been up there so much that I just feel comfortable being a Bulldog." [rl]

One of the top 12 players in the state of Mississippi as a member of the Clarion Ledger's Dandy Dozen, Jackson had suitors from around the SEC bidding for his allegiance. Auburn and Ole Miss made a major push for the MSU lean, but in the end the coaches at MSU were too tough to beat out.

"The coaches were a huge part of the decision because of their ability to develop players and the relationship that I had with them was just great," Jackson said. "It's just a great family atmosphere up there."

Ranked in the top 100 at his position nationally, Jackson has become one of the state's top playmakers. Now that he's made his decision, he's looking to his future at MSU and the possibilities it entails for him offensively.

"Seeing what they do with the offense and the young players that get the ball gets me excited about the future," Jackson said. "I could see myself fitting in perfectly in that style of offense and having a great career."

Jackson becomes the Bulldog's 18th commit and the third in the past five days. He's the second wide receiver commit for MSU joining fellow instate Dandy Dozen wide out and Rivals 4* Jamoral Graham of Newton County. The Bulldogs now hold four members of the Dandy Dozen including West Point running back Aeris Williams and Greenville-Weston linebacker Gerri Green.
