Jackson seeking another state title

Snellville, Ga., safety Zach Jackson has enjoyed the recruiting process so far.

The six-foot, 180-pounder has a mix of offers from around the country and could be close to narrowing things down and making a decision.

Jackson currently has offers from Army, Buffalo, Georgia State, Illinois, Mississippi State, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Western Kentucky.

"I'd like to take at least a few more visits," Jackson said. "I don't really have a top three, four or five. All of my schools are standing out to me right now. I really like Illinois and Michigan State is showing me a lot of interest. I'm going up there (to Michigan State) on an unofficial visit in a couple of weeks."

One program who got in on Jackson early on in the process was Mississippi State.

"Mississippi State was the first school to offer me," Jackson said. "I haven't really heard too much from Mississippi State. I know they wanted me to come to a camp that they had but I couldn't make it. They've been sending me a lot of letters but I haven't really heard too much from the coaches."

When Jackson does begin to weed through his offers there will be several factors to determine who makes the cut. Jackson stated that the school's academic, football and campus environment as well as early playing time are some of the main things he is looking at.

Another very important aspect will be where the Lord leads him to play.

"I'm a strong Christian and I believe you can do anything through prayer," Jackson said. "I lead my team in prayer before and after practice. That's going to have a big key to do with my decision. I've been praying a lot about what school to go to. God will tell me which school to go to. He knows what's best for me."

As a junior, Jackson recorded 85 tackles, five interceptions and broke up three passes helping lead Brookwood High School to a 15-1 record and a Class AAAAA State Championship.

The Broncos have already begun their quest to repeat and Jackson will again be a big part of their title hopes as team captain.

"I think we'll do real well this year," Jackson said. "I can't wait to start the season. We open up in the Georgia Dome against Lassiter. We're going to come in there with a boom. We won a state championship last year and we're looking to win it again."
