Horn Lake WR Jarnorris Hopson details Bulldog decision

DeSoto County is an area in northern Mississippi that many consider to be one of the most talented areas in the entire region.

With recent Mississippi State signees from the area such as Gabe Cavazos, Jevon Banks, Cameron Threatt, and several others, the Bulldogs have created a bit of a pipeline in the area.

That connection grew stronger over the weekend when Horn Lake WR Jarnorris Hopson pulled the trigger on a commitment.

Hopson chose the Bulldogs over other offers from Florida State, Tennessee, Memphis, and others.

He becomes commitment No. 10 for Mike Leach and the rest of the coaching staff in Starkville, in a class ranked just outside of the Top 10 nationally.

"The love that they showed me was just un-matched," said Hopson about his decision and the timing of it. "I've got great relationships with Coach (Steve) Spurrier, Coach (Darcel) McBath, and Coach (Dave) Nichols. They see me moving around all over the field offensively for them. They are excited to be able to keep me in-state."

Horn Lake HS and Starkville are not exactly "close" to one another, but Hopson felt at home on his most-recent visit to Starkville.

"I loved everything about their campus," he said. "I didn't have a favorite part, the entire campus was my favorite part. The fans are special down there."

Hopson didn't make it to any of the Rivals Camps yet this cycle, so rather than an analyst's scouting report, we asked him to give one of himself:

"I'm a physical wideout with good speed. I've got strong hands, and I can do a lot when I've got the ball in the open field."
