Giles enjoying the interest

During his early recruiting process, Clinton (Miss.) junior Cedric Jiles was able to pick up a couple of early offers and also draw other SEC interest. And despite his track duties, the 5-foot-10 and 170-pound Jiles also managed to attend a couple of in-state SEC spring games.
Owning offers from Mississippi State and Southern Miss, Jiles is also receiving steady interest from other programs.

"Outside of my offers, Ole Miss and Tennessee are showing the most interest," said Jiles, who had 81 tackles, 10 PBUs and two intereceptions last year. "They both send a lot of letters. Other schools have talked about stopping by this spring but I haven't talked to that many because of track."
Last month, Jiles attended spring games at Mississippi State and Ole Miss. His trip to Starkville was his second visit this year after attending a MSU junior day.
"It was a good atmosphere and it was nice," said Jiles. "Their defense did pretty good and their offense made some big plays. I got to talk with Coach (Dan) Mullen and Coach (Greg) Knox and even some of their players, so that was all good. Their coaches told me just to let them know when I wanted to be a Bulldog.
"And I really like their coaches and their fans are pretty excited about football there. What I really like about their coaches is they also recruit your family and want them involved and it's not just about you."
A week after MSU's spring game, Jiles made the trip to Oxford and also had an enjoyable experience.
"It was pretty good but not as much as I expected," said Jiles. "Mississippi State had their place packed and Ole Miss didn't have as many fans there. But I had a good time and I watched their defensive backs a lot and I believe I could help them there."
Later this summer, Jiles plans to make return trips to MSU and Ole Miss and then likely wait until his senior season to make his collegiate choice.
"With summer camps, I will probably go to a Nike combine," said Jiles. "Then I will also go to camps at Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Tennessee and any others I get invited to.
"It is still kinda early in the process right now. I am still just seeing what all happens and I plan to wait until my senior year to decide."
