Everett looking good on defense

Last fall as a junior at Collins Hill High School in Suwanne, Ga., Andrew Everett had his share of big plays on both sides of the ball. Starting at receiver and defensive end, the 6-foot-4 and 205-pound Everett had his best showing on defense with 61 tackles, including 12 sacks and 15 tackles for loss. Having already added weight since last year, Everett seeks to continue that process.
"Most schools are recruiting me as a defensive end or outside linebacker," said Everett. "It just depends on their defensive sets with a 3-4 or a 4-3. So I want to keep trying to get bigger and work on my all-around game on defense but also keep my speed."

Some of those schools recruiting Everett are in BCS conferences across the South.
"I have an offer from Southern Miss and I am also drawing interest from Mississippi State, Clemson, Maryland and UAB," said Everett. "So far I've been to visit Southern Miss, Mississippi State and UAB and I am going to UAB again next week."
Everett was in attendance for one of the Bulldogs' spring practice sessions earlier this month and even stayed over a night to check out the team's scrimmage the following day.
"It was nice and I really like it down there," said Everett. "The campus was really nice and the coaches were great. I've gotten to know Coach Chris Wilson well. I also liked watching their scrimmage. It was a good scrimmage with a lot of action on both sides of the ball."
Also, Everett plans to make a return visit to Starkville later this summer.
"They've been asking me to come see their campus for awhile now and I am glad I made the trip," said Everett. "They like my athletic ability and I know that is one of the camps I am going to this summer. Coach Wilson also said he was coming to watch me play this spring and if I do well, he said I could get an offer from their program. And that would be great."
