Croom taking it easy

Norcross (Ga.) High School's Jason Croom spent much of last month on the road taking in many unofficial visits to college programs in the Southeast. But now his focus is shifting towards his senior season and a quiet month of July.
"I am just laid back and getting ready for our senior season," said the 6-foot-5 and 215-pound receiver. "I am just going through workouts at our school with our team and then I am doing some extra drills after workouts.

"I may go see Mississippi State and Tennessee again but right now I don't have anything planned for this month. My team is going to Dallas for a 7-on-7 event so that is all we've been working on."
Late last month, Croom noted that he was focusing most of his recruiting attention on a pair of SEC programs - Mississippi State and Tennessee. While that remains the same, Croom said he is just focused on the SEC, in general.
"When I said I was going to play in the SEC, most people assumed it would be one of those schools (MSU or Tennessee)," said Croom. "But I am looking at pretty much the SEC and MSU and Tennessee are the main two schools.
"I don't talk to Georgia at all but LSU coaches are still talking to me. I talk to coach Angelo Mirando at Mississippi State a lot and I really like their coaches a lot."
And as he stated last month, Croom plans to make his college intentions known to the public when he opens his senior season on August 18th.
"I still plan on making my decision then," said Croom. "I haven't decided yet who it will be but that date hasn't changed. I want to get it over so it can be in the past and I can focus on my last year of high school on the field and in the class room."
Also remaining unchanged are the factors that help Croom decide to either choose the Bulldogs or the Volunteers.
"I am just looking for a family-type atmosphere," said Croom. "I am also seeing how good their graduation rate is and how successful the athletes are with academics. I am not worried about the whole early playing time deal because getting early playing time is up to me and depends on how hard I work and prepare."
