Croom narrows field

Norcross (Ga.) High School's Jason Croom has taken a tour of colleges this summer and has made his rounds throughout SEC and ACC country. Now the 6-foot-5 and 215-pound receiver has narrowed his list to a pair of SEC schools and his college decision is less than two months away.
"My final two are Mississippi State and Tennessee," said Croom. "It was good to see a lot of schools this summer and I probably won't take any more visits. I may go see Mississippi State and Tennessee again with my mom but that will be it."

Along with that SEC duo, Croom has also picked up offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Florida State, Miami, Michigan and Michigan State among others. He noted that other schools are still talking about offering him but he appears set on his final two in the Bulldogs and Volunteers.
"There are still a lot of schools talking to me," said Croom. "But I am pretty set on Tennessee and Mississippi State. They both offer a lot of the same positives. I could play early at those schools and their coaches will help me be a man in the real world. Those schools also stress academics and I know I would leave with a good degree."
And of his final two choices, Croom says he already has a good idea of his final choice and added when he would make his decision known publically.
"I am going to make my decision in our first game of the year (August 18th) and it is on TV, I think," said Croom. "I kinda already have my decision in my head but I have not told anyone yet."
Once that decision date arrives, Croom noted the obvious recruiting pressure will be off his shoulders.
"It feels good to get close to a decision," said Croom. "After it is over with, then I don't have to worry about recruiting any more and I can just focus on my senior season."
