Coman commits to Mississippi State

Friday night Kivon Coman helped Florence (Ala.) win their season opener 13-7 on the road at Vestavia Hills. The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder recorded 15 tackles, one interception and three pass breakups in that contest.
To celebrate, Coman decided to announce his college destination on Monday. The safety called the staff at Mississippi State and gave them the good news.

"It's a lot of weight off my shoulders," Coman said. "It was getting in the way of where I wanted to go worrying about schools. I didn't want to worry and now I can focus on my team and get to where I want to go which is state champs."
Coman chose the Bulldogs over other scholarship offers to Arkansas State, South Alabama and South Florida.
"It's all about being a man when you get over there," Coman said. "At Mississippi State you can get a degree and a good education and be a man. It's not all about football, it's about academics. It feels like family there."
During the recruiting process Coman has built a close bond with his recruiting coach Geoff Collins. He stated that Collins has been waiting on him to commit since MSU extended him the offer shortly following Big Dawg Camp in July.
"(Collins) is very excited," Coman said. "He was ready for me to say where I'm going. I wanted to get it out of the way but i had to make sure that's where I wanted to be at. That's where I want to be so that's why I went ahead and did it."
