Catching up with Nelson Adams

Earlier this year Brandon junior Nelson Adams was busy juggling a two sports - basketball and football. Yes, his football season concluded last November but his football recruitment was just getting started.
Since his junior hoops campaign finished nearly six weeks ago, Adams has been able to make a few visits concerning his football recruitment.

"Things have started to calm down since basketball ended," said the 6-foot-4 and 255-pound Adams. "I went to junior day at Alabama and then I went to Mississippi State's second junior day. I also might go to a junior day at Ole Miss this month.
"It is good to see different schools and see these campuses. But I probably won't be traveling that much in the future except for going to Mississippi State's spring game."
Concerning the Bulldogs, Adams has made numerous trips to Starkville over the past year. Mississippi State verbally offered Adams last year and he attended several Bulldog outings last fall.
"I've been to Mississippi State a lot," said Adams. "It was good to be at their junior day and I sorta knew what to expect since I've been there a few times. Their coaches said they really want me in their program. We didn't talk too much about my position but most schools are recruiting me as a defensive end and some as a tight end."
Adams also noted other schools are also sending him letters but like much of his recruitment, the Bulldogs are the frontrunner.
"Mississippi State is really the main one I am looking at and they have been recruiting me the longest," said Adams. "I am getting letters from Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Memphis but none of them are showing me as much attention as Mississippi State."
Looking ahead to this summer, Adams plans to visit as many camps as possible to further his development on the gridiron. With the AAU basketball circuit no longer in his plans, Adams said his focus will be strictly football this summer.
"I am not playing AAU ball this summer so now I will have all summer for football camps," said Adams, who had 55 tackles and 14 sacks last year. "That's a good thing and now I get to focus at camps and getting better. I want to get faster and stronger. I also want to learn some new techniques that will help me be a better pass rusher."
