Busy weekend for Cowan

Olive Branch (Miss.) junior D'Arthur Cowan experienced a busy slate over this past weekend, attending the Mississippi State spring game as well as the Rivals.com/VTO Elite 100 combine in Leeds, Ala. The end result was a successful weekend for the 6-foot-3 and 180-pound Cowan.
"It was a lot of fun at Mississippi State," said Cowan, who had 31 catches for 658 yards and eight touchdowns last year. "I went to the VTO Rivals camp and that was also a great time. I got the MVP award for the wide receivers' group so it was a pretty good weekend."

Earlier this year Cowan attended one of the Bulldogs' junior day events. He noted his return trip to campus was also a good experience and he got the chance to study MSU's offense a bit more.
"The atmosphere really stuck out to me," said Cowan. "I loved seeing all the fans there. The offense looked good, too, and Tyler Russell and all the quarterbacks threw the ball well. I really liked how they spread the ball around and got a lot of receivers involved. The coaches said they were glad to have me down there and it's always good to see them."
Cowan currently holds offers from MSU, Arkansas, Memphis and Arkansas State. He also noted that a couple of other schools are starting to show more interest.
"Louisiana Tech said they got my film and are going to watch it soon," said Cowan. "They said they expected to offer me real soon. Ole Miss is also starting to show me some interest, too. I may go to see their spring game this weekend and check them out."
Cowan also plans to attend several camps this summer, including return trips to MSU and Arkansas.
"I am going to probably camp anywhere I can get to," said Cowan. "I definitely want to make sure I get to camps at Mississippi State and Arkansas. I have already visited both schools and I want to see them again this summer."
And those two Western Division schools are currently atop of Cowan's list of favorites.
"Mississippi State and Arkansas are still on top," noted Cowan. "It goes back and forth with those two pretty much every other day. It will probably be close to the end of summer when I make my decision. I just want to find a place where I can feel at home and find a good fit and get a good education."
