Busy weekend ahead for Gaines

August is just around the corner and that means high school training camps will soon be underway. For Cordarrly Gaines of Provine (Miss.) High School, it also means a last chance to get in a couple more football camps.
"I went to Alabama's camp this week and the coaches said some good things about me," said the 6-foot-5 and 240-pound offensive lineman. "Then I am going to Mississippi State on Friday and then head to Tennessee the following day. I always have a good experience at Mississippi State and I look forward to seeing Tennessee and their coaches want to see me in action."

Gaines currently holds offers from MSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Tennessee and Arkansas State. Since receiving his MSU offer, Gaines has put the Bulldogs on top of his favorites' list.
"Things are going good with Mississippi State," said Gaines. "They told me they want me to be a Bulldog and join their family. I feel their coaches can make me a better player, especially Coach (John) Hevesy. He is a good guy and a good offensive line coach. I think they like me more as a right tackle but I do play on both sides of the line."
Gaines also pointed out another factor that has the Bulldogs as his frontrunner.
"It is just more family-oriented than the other schools I have seen," Gaines said. "I always get that home feel when I am there and I feel they work harder than anyone. Plus, if I am in the SEC that will make me want to take my talent to a whole other level. It would be a great challenge, for sure."
As far as making his college decision, Gaines is still sticking with the same timeframe he had during the start of his summer camp tour.
"You only get to do it once and I want to be comfortable with my decision," said Gaines. "I plan to make it by the time our district play starts up or by the fourth or fifth game of my senior season. It will be good to get it over with so I can just focus on finishing up strong in high school."
