Bulldog D gets deeper

The State recruiting scene continues to change as things get closer to signing day, and as slots get full, the picture continues to get cloudier. Springdale LB Jamie Jones opted to become a Bulldog today, but he will be taking someone else's slot…
"I went down to Mississippi State this past weekend and looked at the coaches and things like that and it ended up I really liked it and I committed to them today," he commented. The meeting between the coaches and him had initially been set up to discuss him taking a grayshirt offer. Did anything change and why were things moved up?

"They had a change of plans and decided to come in today," he said. "There was a change of plans and I will be able to come in, in the fall, and start then.
"Somebody fell out and they said I would be no. 25 and I wouldn't have to grayshirt. Coach Grimes came in and coach Croom came up here too."
So how does he feel now that he doesn't have to make new plans?
"I feel great," he said. "I am excited and I'm ready to go. I talked to Ethan Stockett from (Forth Smith, Ark.) Southside up here that committed also and we talked about being roommates and everything and we are ready."
He will come in as an outside linebacker an feels the staff is ready for him to contribute immediately.
"They hope I can step in as a player and make plays as I did in high school and get better," he said.
