Brown talks MSU camp

Florence (Ala.) High School's Beniquez Brown was back on the Mississippi State campus on Monday. But his visit this time was more about improving his skills on the defensive side of the ball.
"The first time I came here was just for an unofficial visit and I liked it then," said the 6-foot-2 and 215-pound Brown. "But this time it was all about camp and getting better. Going into my senior year, I am going to play safety. So I came out here to camp to improve my cover skills and how to get on top and play good man-to-man defense."

And Brown exited camp with a good confidence in how he performed in Starkville.
"It was a good experience," said Brown. "I worked hard and got a lot of good practice reps in. I ran a 4.39 yesterday and had a good vertical, too. So it was a good time."
Last year as a junior, Brown piled up the numbers on both sides of the ball. He rushed for 1,129 yards and 15 touchdowns and also collected 134 tackles and two interceptions.
On the recruiting scene, Brown is hearing from schools about both sides of the ball, too.
"I have heard running back and safety," said Brown. "I think mostly schools are just recruiting me as an athlete. I am trying to figure out this summer what I like the best. I like offense and defense both and will play whatever gets me on the field the quickest."
Brown currently owns nearly two dozen offers, and eight of those offers hail from the SEC. He noted twice on Monday that an in-state program is his leader and noted of other SEC programs on his short list.
"I like Alabama, Mississippi State, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee," said Brown. "I keep thinking about my decision and I have thought about doing it before my senior season. But if I don't, then it will probably be closer to signing day. Seeing these schools gives you a lot to think about and you want to make sure when you make that choice."
