Brown ready to hit the road

The summer time usually brings about travel and vacations throughout the South and other regions of the country. Starting next month, Long Beach (Miss.) linebacker Richie Brown will do his share of traveling but his touring days will revolve around his future on the college gridiron.
"My dad is making a big ol' calender with schools we will be stopping by this summer," said the 6-foot-2 and 225-pound Brown. "We are going to Mississippi State's first week of camps and then going to schools like LSU, Ole Miss, Southern Miss and probably also go to camp at Alabama. We may visit Auburn, go see some Forida schools and then go up to Tennessee."

Brown currently holds offers from Mississippi State, Kentucky, Stanford, Southern Miss, Memphis and Arkansas State. During his recent spring drills, Brown noted numerous other schools checked in on his play.
"Somewhere around 20 schools came by the school like Mississippi State, Stanford, LSU, Miami, Auburn, Alabama, Memphis, Kentucky, Florida, Ole Miss and some others," said Brown, who has a 313 combined tackles over the past two years. "Nebraska also talked to me and said they want me to come there for an unofficial visit and then LSU, Auburn and Alabama also said they wanted me to visit them this year."
Brown and his Long Beach High School mates concluded spring with their spring game against Murphy (Ala.) High School. Once again, Brown was on the field the entire game.
"I went both ways again this spring and I didn't come off the field the entire spring game," Brown said. "We did pretty well in the spring game considering we didn't have much practice and the team we played had a lot more players. I felt I did good at linebacker and at running back and if we go to a spread look this year, I will likely play some tight end."
Among his scholarship offers, Brown said he does not have a favorite but did note the schools recruiting him the hardest.
"I am still neutral with all the schools," said Brown. "I haven't named any favorites and it will likely be that way for awhile. There are definitely schools expressing me more interest than others, though. Mississippi State, Stanford and Southern Miss are definitely recruiting me the hardest of all the schools."
And Brown added again he is in no rush to make his collegiate decision.
"I am not worried about getting it over with," said Brown. "I just want to wait and see how I feel and I am not going to rush things. I just want to see how I feel when I visit these campuses, how I feel about the team and how I feel about the atmosphere. Coaches are a part of it, too, but I really want to see what kind of program fits me the best and which program can help me get to the next level."
