BREAKING: Former Rivals100, Texas DB Jalen Green commits to MSU

Going into the second signing period, it was no secret that the Bulldogs of Mississippi State needed to add to their group of defensive backs.

In a down year for JUCO football at the position, several targets began to emerge among a (very) crowded transfer portal. Names like Eddie Smith, Chester Kimbrough, and Jalen Green started to pop up.

The highest rated of the group as a recruit, Jalen Green, made his intentions known he was entering the transfer portal about a week ago.

As soon as the Bulldogs' staff were able to initiate contact, it was made. An offer was placed on the table, and since our original report earlier this week, things began to progress rapidly.

Fast forward to Saturday morning, when the former Top 100 recruit announced his decision to transfer to Mississippi State.

Among the other schools to show interest in Green, you ask?

Colorado, Boise State, North Texas, Notre Dame, Auburn, Oregon, and several, several others.

Green arrives in Starkville with three years to play his remaining two years of eligibility.

Of the 417 total snaps Green saw in 2020 (per PFF) he saw 8 snaps lined up at FS.

Green in his career in Austin totaled 47 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 INT and 7 PD.

His position flexibility, combined with his athleticism and level of experience, will add a strong body to whichever DB room DC Zach Arnett has him in upon the start of spring practice.
