Big Dawg Camp top performers part I

Mississippi State hosted some of their top prospects Friday night under the lights at Davis Wade Stadium for their invitation only Big Dawg Camp.
The Bulldogs turned their big weekend into commitments landing three over a 24-hour span. Rivals.com was on-hand with four staffers for the camp and brings you the first of a three part series of some of the night's top performances in alphabetical order.

Nelson Adams
Position: Weakside defensive end
Height: 6-5
Weight: 260
School/ Hometown: Brandon/ Brandon, Miss.
Offers: Committed to Mississippi State
Logan's take: I first saw Adams, younger brother of Georgetown hoops signee Tyler Adams, in a jamboree last August and left impressed with his quickness. Now Adams has added 20-pounds to his frame but managed to keep his speed in the process. He will likely follow in the mold of a Kaleb Eulls and will eventually move inside once he reaches the college level. Adams definitely has the frame to keep adding weight.
Quadry Antoine
Position: Safety
Height: 6-1
Weight: 210
School/ Hometown: Belle Chasse/ Belle Chasse, La.
Offers: Committed to Mississippi State
Logan's take: Friday night was the first time I've gotten to watch Antoine in person and he did not disappoint. He physically looks like he could step onto the field right now and compete at a high level. Antoine has the body of an SEC safety right now and could potentially grow into a linebacker like Chris Hughes and Darion Arrington have done in the past for the Bulldogs. Either way MSU is set to have a physical safety or an athletic linebacker on their hands.
Dominique Banks
Position: Weakside defensive end
Height: 6-3
Weight: 230
School/ Hometown: Ryan/ Denton, Texas
Offers: Arizona State, Arkansas, Arkansas State, Baylor, Boise State, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Mississippi State, New Mexico, North Texas, Virginia, Western Kentucky
Logan's take: Banks and his cousin Adairius Barnes both wanted to commit to the Bulldogs over the weekend. With Barnes being an instate prospect his commitment was easy to take. It appears that the coaching staff will continue to watch and evaluate Banks during his senior season. Had he been able to make MSU's camp last month it would have given them a better chance to do that. Banks is kind of a 'tweener' right now between a bigger linebacker or a smaller defensive end.
Torrey Bell
Position: Linebacker
Height: 6-5
Weight: 220
School/ Hometown: John Curtis/ New Orleans, La.
Offers: Committed to Mississippi State
Logan's take: Bell was one of the more impressive looking athletes at the entire camp. He is tall with a long windspan and legs and reminded me a lot of a young K.J. Wright. Rivals.com has Bell listed as a linebacker but he told me following the camp that he prefers to play with his hand on the ground. He worked at defensive end Friday night and seemed like a natural evading blockers with his long arms and getting to the quarterback dummy past some of the top linemen at the camp.
Beniquez Brown
Position: Athlete
Height: 6-2
Weight: 210
School/ Hometown: Florence/ Florence, Ala.
Offers: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Vanderbilt
Logan's take: Brown was one of the higher profile recruits that showed up in Starkville. He worked out with the defensive backs and moved as well as any of them despite also being one of the biggest among that unit. Brown came down and worked out with his teammate Kivon Coman, who also has an MSU offer. Brown is a major priority for the Bulldogs and has the unique combination of size and speed in the secondary.
Frederick Brown
Position: Wide Receiver
Height: 6-1
Weight: 166
School/ Hometown: Jim Hill/ Jackson, Miss.
Offers: Memphis, Mississippi State, Ole Miss
Logan's take: Due to my schedule covering baseball I was only able to cover one day of camp last month but the one player I was most impressed that day was Brown. He came back against Friday night and showed out again. He is a long, lanky outside receiver type that can go up and get the football at it's highest point. There is really only one word to describe his route running and that's smooth. Brown caught the game-winning touchdown in overtime on Friday running a post route and getting behind the defender.
Richie Brown
Position: Linebacker
Height: 6-2
Weight: 223
School/ Hometown: Long Beach/ Long Beach, Miss.
Offers: Arkansas State, Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, LSU, Memphis, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Stanford
Logan's take: I've watched Brown several times on tape and knew he was fast but it takes seeing him in person to realize just how quick he is. He runs like a defensive back stuck in a linebacker's body. Brown was able to cover just about every receiver on-hand Friday night with ease and I'm sure if they had pads on he would have delivered some bone-jarring blows as well. He is atop the Bulldogs board at linebacker and after that performance it's easy to see why.
Vernon Butler
Position: Strongside defensive end
Height: 6-4
Weight: 235
School/ Hometown: North Pike/ Summitt, Miss.
Offers: Louisiana-Lafayette, Memphis, Mississippi State, Ole Miss
Logan's take: Butler plays in the shadow of North Pike teammate A.J. Jefferson, who also happens to play the same position. But Butler is a fine player in his own right with plenty of potential. He is still raw in a lot of areas but with the right situation and coaching staff could turn into a dominant player at the next level. Butler is a definite sleeper in the state this season and I wouldn't be surprised if he had a monster season ahead.
Cole Carter
Position: Offensive Tackle
Height: 6-6
Weight: 285
School/ Hometown: Caledonia/ Caledonia, Miss.
Offers: Mississippi State commitment
Logan's take: Cater was one of the largest lineman on-hand and was easily one of the most athletic of the bunch as well. Having played most of his career as a tight end, Carter is just scratching the surface on his future at tackle. He struggled some against top notch players like Channing Ward but also showed a nasty streak that every coach wants their guys to have in the trenches.
Shelton Cole
Position: Wide Receiver
Height: 6-2
Weight: 205
School/ Hometown: Meridian/ Meridian, Miss.
Offers: None
Logan's take: Cole was probably the most put together receiver in the group Friday night. He is solid from head to toe and is a tough, physical wideout. I'm shocked that he is still awaiting his first offer because he definitely has what it takes to excel at the next level. Cole has great hands and would be a great option over the middle. He is a little lacking in the speed department which might open things up for him as a tight end like a Malcolm Johnson-type.
