Batiste gains MSU offer

Jordan Batiste wants to play big time college football. The 5-foot-9 170-pound defensive back from Lutcher (La.) High School has worked very hard to get that chance and several schools have started to take notice.
"I am hearing from Mississippi State, Memphis, Louisiana, LSU, UCLA, Texas, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Georgia Tech and Tennessee," Batiste said. "Right now I have two offers, Mississippi State and Memphis."

Mississippi State's offer made Jordan want to travel to Starkville and check things out first hand.
"Coach (Dan) Mullen called me last Tuesday and offered me over the phone," said Batiste. "Then Saturday I traveled down to Starkville and saw their practice first hand. I got a tour of the campus with Coach (Scott) Sallach and got to talk to Coach Mullen. They are two straight up guys. They told me how it would be if I went there. Then they explained to me why they wanted me and made me feel very wanted. They didnt try to over-sell their product, just shot straight with me. That impressed me."
The trip to Starkville was a first for Batiste and it was a visit he came away impressed with.
"Starkville is a very cool town," Batiste said. "You can tell it's a college town and I liked it. MSU's facilities were better than any I have seen. They are SEC and are top notch. It was really top of the line."
As you might expect, this summer plans to be a busy one for Batiste.
"I know am am going to a Nike combine in Houston," Batiste said. "I am also going to the 7-on-7 competition in Tuscaloosa. Right now I know I am going to camp at MSU, LSU and Memphis."
While Batiste is enjoying the attention, he plans on making a decision before his Senior Season.
"I really want to make a decision before my senoir season. There are two things that will influence my decision, the school has to have my major and the chance to earn playing time."
