Bailey one step closer

Korentheus Bailey had several things to work on to get eligible for Mississippi State and while it is still not quite there, he took a big step today. That step has allowed him to restructure his plans, and now possibly has a new timetable on when he will be able to enroll.
"He passed his exit exam," commented an excited Kevin Bailey, Korentheus' dad. "We just found out today that he made a 502, and he needed a 500. They called us and he got his diploma today.

"We sent the transcript to Mississippi State and now he just needs four more points on the ACT. He needs a 67 or 68. He won't be eligible to go now, but we are going to try to slide in the first of 2008. If not we will sit out the whole year."
As was speculated on The Hot Board back in July, with diploma in hand, Bailey's situation is the same as fellow Bulldog signee Mike Hunt, who fell just one point short. Both will sit out this fall working on their test scores in hopes of enrolling in the spring.
"We aren't going to JUCO or prep or anything like that," Bailey commented. "He is just going to work on getting stronger, quicker and faster.
"I told Coach Croom that, 'You take care of your end and I'll take care of mine.' He is meeting with the academic advisors and I bought Korentheus a guide to the ACT with practice tests that are similar to the real test and he works on that at least an hour every day.
He takes the ACT on September 15th, and we are just going to put it in God's hands. We'll know two weeks after that."
