Back to football for Brice

Due to his track duties this spring, Ruston (La.) junior Kentrell Brice was a late arrival to spring practice. But it didn't take long for the 6-foot and 180-pound defensive back to find his rhythm.
"Early on I was mainly focused on track and I did all of the jumping events," said Brice. "I played cornerback last year and I was doing that again and also at kick returner. I was hoping to improve my coverage skills and improve my speed so I could play close to the line of scrimmage and do that a lot. I was just trying to impress a lot of coaches and get more offers this spring."

And Brice did just that. He collected a pair of Big 10 offers from Indiana and Northwestern as well as an offer from Memphis.
"My first offer came from Indiana and it was big to get that first offer," said Brice. "I plan to see Indiana this summer and go to one of their one-day camps. Then Memphis offered after Indiana and then Northwestern offered. It felt great to get those offers and it's always good to have options."
Earlier this spring, Brice took unofficial visits to check out Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Louisiana Tech. He added that some of those schools were in attendence this spring to check out Ruston's spring session.
"I was at track most of the time but coaches from Arkansas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Indiana and Texas A&M came down," said Brice. "I've been hearing a lot from Arkansas and I still get a lot of letters from Mississippi State. I went to see Mississippi State not long ago and it was a good visit. I got a good vibe on their campus and I liked their environment and program."
With summer rapidly approaching, Brice is already making a few plans concerning his camp schedule.
"Of course I am going to the Indiana camp and try to make it to the schools that offered me," noted Brice. "I am also going to camps at Ole Miss and Mississippi State and then I want to go to Louisiana Tech and LSU, too."
