Armah Talks MSU Jr. Day

In 2010 Dacula, Ga., junior Alex Armah made his presence felt on both sides of the football. The 6-foot and 218-pound Armah had over 300 yards rushing with three touchdowns and also totaled 49 tackles with five tackles for loss and three fumble recoveries.
But for the most part, Armah said his heart lies on the defensive side.

"I am mainly being recruited as a linebacker and a running back," said Armah. "But I like linebacker and I like playing defense more. I guess it is just the hitting part of it that I like more. And let's face it, this game revolves around defense and if teams can't score then they can't win.
"And on defense is where I am looking to get better. I am looking to improve my pass coverage and work on getting quicker. I run a 4.6 now but I want to lower that."
In the early going of his recruitment, Armah is drawing interest from Mississippi State, Cincinnati, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Georgia Tech. Earlier this month, Armah got the chance to check out the Bulldogs when he attended their second junior day.
"I like the way they handle academics and how they really focus on the student part of being a student-athlete," said Armah. "They have a separate area for their athletes go get their studies done and they seem to have a good, overall athletics program. It was also good to see them going hard in practice and those guys move pretty fast-paced in practice and are very intense."
And Armah also got a chance to visit with the MSU coaches during his trip to Starkville.
"Again, they keep it pretty simple and they always talked about how grades come first," said Armah. "The coaches said if someone has equal talent then they go to their transcripts and make a choice off of grades."
In the future, Armah said he plans to return to the Magnolia State to check out both SEC programs in the state.
"My main interest is from Mississippi State and Ole Miss," said Armah. "Mississippi State was my first junior day and I may go to Ole Miss, too. I know I am planning to camp at Mississippi State and Ole Miss and maybe Georgia, too.
"Of the ones looking at me, Mississippi State is recruiting me pretty hard and seem real interested in me coming back to see them."
