Adams remaining a Bulldog

Throughout his entire recruiting process, one school has remained at the top for Brandon (Miss.) rising senior Nelson Adams. And late Wednesday night, the 6-foot-5 and 260-pound Adams committed to that school and joined Mississippi State's list of 2012 commitments.
Adams becomes MSU's fifth commitment for 2012 and the fourth in-state commitment.

"I called Coach Greg Knox and Coach Dan Mullen around 9:30 tonight," said Adams. "I told them I was ready to be a Bulldog and both of them were real excited. Coach Mullen said he was excited for me to be part of the family and told me to keep working hard this year."
Adams also drew interest from Ole Miss, Alabama, Tennessee and Memphis. But growing up in a Bulldog family, it was an easy decision for Adams.
"I was up there yesterday for camp and I just always feel comfortable there," said Adams. "I knew where I wanted to go and it was an easy decision. And this process isn't hard when you know where you want to play at for the next four or five years."
Last year, Adams lined up at defensive end, linebacker and tight end. He collected 55 tackles, including 14 sacks, and had a pair of fumble recoveries. Expected to play middle linebacker this fall, Adams said the Bulldogs want him to play on the edge in college.
"They want me as a defensive end," said Adams. "And I feel I play pretty good on the line. It is fun being able to play different spots, though, and I just try to do what I can for my team."
And now that the Brandon Bulldog has chosen to remain a Bulldog at the next level, Adams said the rest of his prep career will not feature any recruiting pressure.
"It was just time to go ahead and commit," said Adams. "And I am glad I did it and it's exciting to know I will play for Mississippi State. Now I will just remain in the weight room, work hard there and then go to the Big Dawg Camp in July. And that's about it for the rest of the summer."
