Coming the day after Erroll Tompson, another senior leader for Mississippi State declared for the NFL Draft, Marquiss Spencer.

“Much gratitude to the Bulldog family of Mississippi State University,” Spencer said in a social media statement. “My coaches, both present and former, my teammates/brothers, because of all of you, I am a much better me!”

“At this time, I humbly announce my plan to enter the 2021 NFL Draft, and I continue to solicit your prayers and support in doing do. #GoDawgs #HailState”

Spencer was one of the veterans on the 5th-ranked SEC defense in terms of total defense this season, recording 30 total tackles in nine games. That is on top of 37 in 2019 and 36 in total between the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Spencer's season ended early in the Auburn game with an injury that required him to be carted off the field.
