Another year has passed and another successful performance in the classroom has been logged by the Mississippi State men's tennis squad. Behind the leadership of head coach Per Nilsson, the Bulldogs finished the spring with a team grade point average of 3.76, which stands as the highest amongst all male sports at MSU and the second-highest GPA in the team's history.

In addition to the team achievement, all eight members the Maroon and White earned either Dean's or President's scholar honors. Two Bulldogs earned perfect 4.0's in senior James Chaudry and junior Malte Stropp. Freshmen Romain Bogaerts and Stefan Vinti join Chaudry and Stropp as President's Scholar honorees.

Freshmen Jordan Angus and Pedro Dumont, along with senior Ethan Wilkinson and junior Zach White earned Dean's Scholar honors, as all four achieved higher than a 3.50 GPA for the spring.

"Very proud of the guys for their accomplishments in the classroom," Nilsson said. "To be part of this team, it is important to put the work in both on and off the court and they have done just that."

Along with the Bulldogs' success in the classroom, they also experienced great triumph on the court as well. The Bulldogs reached the NCAA Round of 16 for the first time since 2001, while also picking up several individual honors. Nilsson was voted ITA Southern Region Coach of the Year, while freshman Romain Bogaerts picked up ITA National Rookie of the Year, SEC Freshman of the Year and All-SEC First Team honors. Stropp also picked up All-SEC honors, landing on the conference's second team.

State finished the season ranked 11th nationally, after being as high as ninth during the season. Individually, Bogaerts caps his rookie season ranked No. 11 in the nation, while Stropp closes out at 63rd nationally. The duo of Angus and Stropp end the 2012-13 campaign ranked 14th in the doubles rankings.
