Three Star Quarterback Names a Leader

After receiving calls during the early evaluation period, and visiting a few campuses, standout athlete Kethonne McLaurin (6-2, 180, 4.5) from Collins High has named an early list of favorites. One of these schools has emerged as his leader.

McLaurin is a versatile athlete and is being recruited to play several positions. He received calls from four schools in May that were interested in his talents.
West Virginia (Trickett) is looking at him as an athlete, while Southern Miss (Rodrigue) and Mississippi State (Hendrick) like his quarterback skills. Alabama thinks he will be a good receiver at the next level.
Kethone led Collins High to the 3A state championship last season, completing 97 passes out of 186 for 1926 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also played wide receiver as a sophomore.
He feels like Southern Miss is currently recruiting him the hardest, but he really likes the Mississippi State coaches. "Coach Hendrick, I like him a lot," Kethonne commented.
"He’s kind of like my father. That’s why I like him."
McLaurin lists Mississippi State, West Virginia, Oklahoma State, and Alabama as the teams he is most interested in, but says one has emerged as the leader. "I would have to say Mississippi State, because of the coaches, and I like the environment," he said.
"I like the campus, and I like the football team. They have a good team."
Kethonne has already attended the Mississippi State camp, and plans squeeze as many in as he can before the end of the summer. He is scheduled to go to Southern Miss, the Steve McNair Camp, and may go to the Jones CC or East Central Mississippi CC passing camp.
McLaurin plans to major in engineering, and currently maintains a 2.7 GPA. He took the ACT on June 8th and is awaiting the results.
