Renfroe receives Ferriss Trophy

JACKSON, Miss. - Mississippi State junior outfielder Hunter Renfroe has been named the recipient of the 2013 C Spire Ferriss Trophy, presented annually to the top collegiate baseball player in Mississippi. The Crystal Springs, Miss., native, one of five finalists for the award, was presented the award Monday afternoon during ceremonies at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in Jackson.
The power-hitting Renfroe becomes the fourth Mississippi State player to receive the award. Shortstop Thomas Berkery and catcher Ed Easley received the award in back-to-back years in 2006 and 2007, while pitcher Chris Stratton received the Ferriss Trophy last year.
