Recruiting heating up for Holloway

With his junior school year now in the past, Alonso (Tampa, Fla.) High School athlete Brandon Holloway has his sights on the 2011 campaign. And tops on that list is making sure his team's spring momentum carries over this summer.
"We didn't get out of school until June 10th," said the 5-foot-9 and 155-pound Holloway. "We did okay this spring and now we have summer workouts coming up. We have a lot of young guys on our team so we really need to get better this summer. We need to work harder than ever in our workouts."

Last year, Holloway spent much of his time in the backfield and rushed for 409 yards and four touchdowns. He also played a major role on special teams with two touchdowns via kickoff returns. Looking towards his senior year, Holloway said he could spend more time in the passing game.
"I played a lot more slot receiver this spring," said Holloway. "I feel I help the team more there and I will also be at cornerback and again be on special teams."
On the recruiting scene, Holloway owns offers from the likes of Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Arizona State and Colorado State. Of late, he collected a couple of new offers as well.
"Iowa State and UAB were my latest offers," said Holloway. "And a lot of coaches came by this spring and most were from schools that have already offered. I think I am up to 15 offers now and that's been a blessing."
And of his offers, Holloway said he remains in constant contact with the pair of SEC schools that have offered.
"Things are going really well with Mississippi State and Vanderbilt," noted Holloway. "I talk to their coaches a good bit and I have a good connection with them. Both of those schools are recruiting me as a slot receiver and as a kick returner."
Later this summer, Holloway plans to take some unofficial visits and he said that process could help paint a clearer picture in his recruitment.
"I am going to sit down soon with my coach and try to narrow things down," said Holloway. "I want to see some schools this summer and see who fits me the best. I haven't narrowed things down right now but I know Mississippi State and Vanderbilt will be in there, for sure. And I hope to make my decision before I get into my senior season."
