No. 2 inside linebacker makes first cut

Nakobe Dean just can't get anything done these days. Coaches from over two dozen schools are contacting the student-athlete out of Horn Lake (Miss.) daily — that's right, daily.

Dean has tried to be respectful and speak with as many coaches as he can, but he still has to take care of business.

"Nakobe has cut his list to reduce the number of calls and text messages he receives every day. His academics are his first priority and recruiting is cutting in to homework time," said Horn Lake head coach Brad Boyette.

The 6-foot-1, 215 pound linebacker cut his list down to 15. He has cover 30 offers, so quite a few schools have been eliminated.

The schools that made the cut are Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Stanford and Texas A&M.

Dean feels better after the cut.

"It has been hard the last few months, but I think I have managed it well and not let it control me," said Dean. "I feel great now. I feel like I can be more focused on the schools that I see myself going to."

The No. 1 prospect in the state of Mississippi does not know when the next cut will, but he did say it will likely happen "sooner than later".
