Moody adding offers

Last fall as a junior at Henry County (McDonough, Ga.) High School, quarterback Chris Moody was a threat with his arm and his legs. Throwing for 1,107 yards and 11 touchdowns while rushing for 507 yards and four more scores in 2010, the 6-foot-1 and 200-pound Moody was up to his old tricks again this spring.
"We finished up spring ball with our spring game last week," said Moody. "I was 5-of-7 passing for 103 tackles and one touchdown and I also rushed for 178 yards and two touchdowns. I was on defense again, too, and had a couple of tackles and an interception.

"We basically put in all our running plays this spring and we focused more on that. Then this summer I will keep working on my arm and passing in 7-on-7 camps."
Early in the recruiting process, Moody collected offers from Mississippi State, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and Indiana. Then this spring Moody added a few more to his resume.
"A whole lot of teams came by this spring like Florida, Wake Forest, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech and a bunch more," noted Moody. "I got new offers from Wake Forest, UAB and Middle Tennessee State and I think I am up to 14 offers now. All of those offers are such a blessing and it's a good feeling."
Earlier this year, Moody and teammate Dalvin Tomlinson took an unofficial visit to MSU and check out one of the Bulldogs' spring practices. He plans to make a return trip to Starkville this summer along with other camp stops.
"I am going to sit down with my coach soon and see which camps he is going to take us to," said Moody. "I know one is Central Florida and I want to make it to Mississippi State's camp, too. I have two good SEC offers with Vanderbilt and Mississippi State. Those are two of my bigger offers.
"Vanderbilt is big on academics and have a new coach now. And things are great with Mississippi State right now. I talk to coach Dan Mullen and coach John Hevesy a lot and Coach Hevesy came by our practice. Coach Mullen told me he wanted me back down there for summer camp and I want to do that and throw with coach Mullen."
Moody added he holds no favorites in his recruitment and wants to get a closer look at the schools that have offered him. He has no preference of a conference and also noted he is being recruited for different spots on the field.
"Some schools say quarterback, some say defensive back and some say just athlete," Moody said. "I do prefer quarterback but I am keeping my options open and keeping an open mind. I haven't checked on all of these schools yet and everyone is even right now and it doesn't matter which conference I play in.
"I just want to look hard at all these schools and take my official visits. So it won't be any time soon that I make my decision. I am just looking for a good home, a great coaching staff, a good education and a chance to play early."
