This past week Mississippi State gained their 11th commitment for the 2018 class when defensive tackle Aaron Morgan chose the Bulldogs.

The class is currently ranked in the top 40 in the Rivals team rankings, No. 39 at this point overall and seventh in the SEC.

Morgan was the first commitment from the state of Florida this year. MSU has eight commitments from the state of Mississippi and one each from Alabama and Texas.

The class has three wide receivers and one commitment for the following positions: offensive line, quarterback, tight end, linebacker, defensive line, defensive back, kicker and athlete.

The highest rated recruits as of today are two four-star prospects, quarterback Jalen Mayden and wide receiver Malik Heath. Both have been given a 5.8 rating by Rivals.

The largest commitment is offensive lineman Kwatrivous Johnson at 6-foot-9 360 pounds. Quite a difference between Johnson and the class' smallest commit, defensive back Esaias Furdge who is listed at 6-foot 160 pounds.

How does this class compare to last year? As of 6/25/16 Mississippi State had only nine commitments compared to the current 11 in the 2018 class.

Starkville receiver Cameron Gardner will obviously have no need to travel far to enroll while Aaron Morgan will need to go 865 miles from his Miami home to reach the MSU campus.

As previously mentioned Morgan was the most recent commitment and the the first to commit was wide receiver Nero Nelson. Back on July 7 of 2015 Nelson committed to the Bulldogs but then enrolled at Copiah-Lincoln Community College.

It's worth mentioning that tight end Brad Cumbest is currently being evaluated by Rivals and once his rating is added to the class you can expect the team ranking to jump several spots.
