McPhee named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week

STARKVILLE - Junior defensive lineman Pernell McPhee was named Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
A constant in the offensive backfield, McPhee totaled three tackles including a pair of sacks in Mississippi State's 15-3 win at Vanderbilt last weekend. McPhee led a defensive front that allowed only 33 yards rushing on 29 carries. Vanderbilt's longest run from scrimmage was nine yards.
McPhee becomes the third Bulldog defensive lineman to win the weekly award that began in 2004. Willie Evans earned the honor after a win over Tulane in 2005, and Jessie Bowman claimed the award following the Auburn game a year ago.
