Jones adding offers

During the spring, Carrollton, Ga. cornerback Jonathan Jones took numerous unofficial visits and checked out programs that had previously offered him. This summer, the 5-foot-10 and 170-pound Jones has remained on the road and could be earning more offers.

"I went to Auburn not long ago for camp and it went good," said Jones. "They told me I did well and said they would be back in touch with me. Then I also stopped by Wake Forest after Auburn's camp when we had a track meet in North Carolina. And Wisconsin has also offered me recently."

But Jones said his traveling days are not over just yet.

"I hope to get to Tennessee and get to Florida State and Kentucky," said Jones. "I also want to try to get to Mississippi State's Big Dawg Camp and that will probably be it for the summer."

Along with his latest offer, Jones has also been offered by Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Stanford, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Wake Forest, Illinois and Texas Tech.

Also a two-sport standout, Jones said the schools that have offered him in football have also offered the opportunity to play two sports in college.

"Everybody that is recruiting me has talked about me running track, too," said Jones. "So that is a possibility no matter where I go for college. My track career will just depend on where I play football."

Once his traveling days are over this summer, Jones said he will begin to "narrow" things down in his recruitment. And that decision could come soon or later.

"Hopefully after I make all my visits, I want to get a top five and be able to narrow it down some," said Jones. "I would say everyone recruiting me right now is even and in the mix. I haven't put a time frame on my decision. I just want to talk to my folks and see where my best fit will be. I have no problem committing soon or later on and it doesn't matter to me."
