Jiles gets his offer

This past weekend, Clinton (Miss.) junior Cedric Jiles made his second unofficial visit to Mississippi State and caught the Bulldogs' initial scrimmage of the spring. The 5-foot-10 and 170-pound cornerback left campus, however, with a different view of the Bulldogs on his second visit.
"I got some real good news on my second visit and they offered me," said Jiles. "That was pretty exciting. They told me if I wanted to play football at Mississippi State then I would have a scholarship there. So that was great news to hear."

During his visit to MSU, Jiles took the opportunity to watch the Bulldog defensive backs in action during the scrimmage.
"That was nice to watch them go hard in practice," said Jiles. "It was pretty exciting to see how intense they were. I watched Johnthan Banks and Nickoe Whitley a lot and both of them were doing pretty good. Both were pretty aggressive and also good in coverage."
Also owning an offer from Southern Miss, Jiles has taken in junior days at Mississippi State and Southern Miss. Next month he plans to visit another in-state program as well.
"I am going to visit Ole Miss on April 16th and catch their spring game," said Jiles. "I have not visited them yet and I want to check out their program. That is my only other visit coming up that I know of right now."
Next month will see Jiles and his Clinton mates returning to the gridiron for spring football. As a junior, Jiles had 81 tackles with two interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), three fumble recoveries and 10 pass breakups.
"We start up around the middle of April," said Jiles. "I am ready to get started and get back comfortable with my teammates and start hitting the weights. We lost some good seniors so we all have to step up. Personally, I just want to get better at everything and perfect my game."
And concerning his recruitment and newest offer, Jiles said he still plans the slow approach to that process.
"I am just taking it all slow and visiting schools to give me a better idea," said Jiles. "I think it is best that way so you can make a decision that you feel 100 percent comfortable with. So I am just waiting to see how things work out and enjoying things right now."
