Jelks gets MSU offer

It's not every day that a prospect gets a pair of SEC offers in a single day. But that is what Henry County (Tenn.) junior offensive lineman Andrew Jelks experienced this morning.
"I got offers from Kentucky and Mississippi State this morning," said the 6-foot-6 and 260-pound Jelks. "It was pretty amazing and I was just taken back by it all. Coach Angelo Mirando of Mississippi State came by the school today and talked with my coaches and told my coaches they were offering me. So I called Coach Mirando later on and he said I have a full scholarship to play at Mississippi State.

"I don't know much about Mississippi State or Kentucky but that's why I plan to visit them both next month or so."
Jelks, who played left tackle last year, also owns offers from Ole Miss, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Louisville, Wake Forest, Missouri and Cincinnati among others. Along with trips to Kentucky and MSU, Jelks plans to take a few more visits this summer.
"I plan to go to a few camps and keep working on my technique," said Jelks. "I am going to camp at Ole Miss, Tennessee and Vanderbilt, too."
Despite owning several BCS offers, Jelks noted he doesn't have a favorite and is waiting to see what all happens this summer.
"I really don't have any favorites," said Jelks, who plans to major in business. "I am just taking it all in and see what each school has to offer and just go from there. Academics, the campus lifestyle and a good relationship and atmosphere with the coaches will all be factors for me."
Early next month, Jelks joins his Henry County teammates on the gridiron again when they open spring ball.
"I will be back at left tackle again and that is where colleges are recruiting me to play," said Jelks. "We get started on May 5th and I really want to concentrate on my weight this offseason. I want to get my weight up to 275 pounds by this summer. I also want to be the leader for the offensive line and make sure we are the strongest part of the team. I love being aggressive up front and I plan to keep on doing that. I just love to come off the ball and hit you in the mouth."
