Gee Drawing Early Looks

As the son of a former Mississippi State defensive linemen, Cleveland (Miss.) East Side junior Raymond Gee has often been on Mississippi State's campus. Over the weekend the 6-foot-2 and 183-pound receiver/defensive back got another opportunity to be in Starkville with the Bulldogs' junior day event.
"It was good and I was glad to see one of their practices and see how they do things in practice," said Gee. "I really like their atmosphere and I go there every once in awhile with my dad (Raymond Gee). It is also good that my dad played there and he gives me advice about recruiting and lets me know what to expect in recruiting.

"Their coaches told me I have nice size and they want me to come back to their camp to showcase my talent. They said they were recruiting me as a receiver and as a safety."
During State's practice over the weekend, Gee said he saw a couple of trends noticed by other prospects at junior day.
"How fast and how physical they were really stuck out to me," said Gee. "They never let up in practice and they are always encouraging each other."
In the early stages of his recruiting, Gee noted he has one offer and is drawing interest from several other Division 1 programs.
"Southern Miss has offered," said Gee. "And Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Louisiana Tech and Arkansas State are showing interest, too. Some are recruiting me as a safety and others as a receiver. My position doesn't matter to me and it is just whichever once gets me playing time on the field."
Gee also added he plans to attend several camps this summer to improve his overall production on the field, and said he has no early leader.
"I am just still looking at all of the schools and I really don't know yet," Gee said. "I am just waiting to see what all will happen. Mississippi State was my first junior day and I am also going to Ole Miss' junior day on April 2nd and see what they have. I plan to go to camps at both of those schools and also go to a Nike combine in Mobile.
"I really want to work on my speed and my agility. Those are the main two things I am wanting to get done this offseason. I ran a 4.57 forty the other day at school and I want to keep lowering that time."
