Ellis Ready for Things to Heat Up

Even though temperatures have soared across the South, right tackle Delvechio Ellis (6-4, 300, 5.1) from Vicksburg High is ready to start practice. “It’s been in the lower nineties,” he commented. “I’m ready for it though.

”I’ve been working hard this summer. I’ve been running, lifting, and doing agilities.” Practice starts August 5th.
Ellis is an excellent blocker and being in better shape will only improve his skills. Last season as a junior, his blocking graded out at 90%. He was named to the all county and all district teams for his performance.
Although he didn’t receive any calls in May, coaches from LSU, Arkansas, Auburn, Mississippi State, and Southern Miss all came by Vicksburg High. He has still been receiving a lot of letters, mostly from Auburn and Mississippi State.
Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, and Florida are the schools at the top of Ellis’ list. He has camped at Mississippi State, Grambling, and Nicholls State this summer, and says he is finished with camps for the year.
Delvechio currently maintains a 2.5 GPA and is very close to making a passing ACT score after receiving his test results recently. “That was my first time taking it, so I think I will be ready for the next time, because I will know what to look for,” he said. He plans to major in business management.
