East Miss. C.C. OL Nicholas Jones, makes it official, flips from USM

The football team at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba is well known for putting out talent on a regular basis.

Mississippi State has taken advantage of that talent in recent years, and on Saturday continued that tradition when they flipped offensive lineman Nicholas Jones from his recent commitment to Southern Miss.

The staff in Starkville just offered him on Wednesday, so it was a quick turnaround for the Mississippi native.

"Playing in the SEC has been a dream of mine since growing up," Jones said about his decision. "The coaches (at Mississippi State) are excited to make things happen together, and win some games. The vibes were good when I told Coach (Mason) Miller and coach (Rod) Gibson.

Jones continued.

"I'm from Mississippi, so they are in my state. I've been over there to Starkville multiple times. The campus is fire there, I really like it, and so does my family. We are all excited. My family is less than two hours away, so they will be able to come see me play.

Because East Mississippi has opted out of playing in the upcoming abbreviated 2020 season, it will be up to Jones in terms of how prepared he will be when he gets to Starkville. as well as where he plays on the line.

"I'll be doing what it takes to get ready for the SEC, Jones said about the next few months. "I see myself as someone who can play either T or G, but I think when it comes to it I will be playing G."

Jones is the thrid OL commit in the class, and No. 17 overall for the Bulldogs in the Class of 2021.
