Busy week for Jones

Since collecting early BCS offers, Carrollton, Ga., junior Jonathan Jones has been busy checking out numerous schools. The 5-foot-10 and 165-pound cornerback saw his visit tour take him to Mississippi State on Tuesday followed by a trip to Georgia Tech later today.
"It went well," said Jones of his MSU unofficial visit. "It was good to be able to see how they conduct their spring practices. It was very intense and it was my first time down there. They have hard-nosed practices and I watched their defensive backs a lot. They coach their defensive backs to be physical and to play with physical toughness. And that is how I like to play.

"They offered me not long ago and we've been building a good relationship since. I plan to be back for their summer camps and I am going to some of their games this fall."
Jones currently owns offers from MSU, Kentucky, Georgia Tech and Illinois. He has also taken unofficial visits to Alabama, Auburn and Florida.
"Everything has been pretty exciting early on and I am starting to get more comfortable with these visits," said Jones. "You start to get used to the attention and that's been good, too. I am just enjoying all these trips and it's been a fun journey so far. I will be going to Georgia Tech (today) but I am not sure after that. I am looking at a few camps, too, for this summer but all of that has not been settled yet."
Of course, Jones will soon have his own spring practice session to prep for in the near future, and he's focused on his coverage skills.
"I really want to improve breaking on the ball better and I am really focused on that," said Jones. "I felt great about how I played last year and I covered well last year. I just want to keep getting quicker on breaking to the ball. I like to play physical and I got in some good hits last year. That is something I know I will continue next year."
With four offers already and interest from Alabama and Auburn, Jones said he was in no rush to make a decision and wants to absorb as much info as possible on these visits.
"I am going to wait a bit," said Jones. "It will probably be sometime before the end of my senior year. It is still kinda early and I like all of these schools. I just want to keep taking my visits so I get to know the coaches and programs better."
