The Stars, who have won back-to-back NAIA titles, have already played three games and sport an unblemished record. They are led in scoring by senior forward Rodney Alexander, who is averaging 22.7 points and 9.0 rebounds.
MSU, which opens the regular season at home on Nov. 15 against Centenary, had five players score in double-digits against the Falcons. Sophomore guard Ravern Johnson paced the attack with 19, while junior center Jarvis Varnado, who had 8 blocked shots, totaled 17. He also recorded a double-double after hauling in 12 boards.
Likewise, freshman reserve Romero Osby had a double-double in just his first appearance for the Maroon & White with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Saturday marks the second year in a row the Bulldogs and Stars have met in exhibition play. Last season, MSU staked a 100-69 victory and were led by Jamont Gordon's 20-point effort.
